Description
I remember the day when inspiration struck me like a lightning bolt. The image before you is a testament to that moment of revelation. It was a cold winter’s day; the snow had laid its white blanket upon the earth, and nature seemed to be in deep slumber. Yet amidst this serene silence, I felt an overwhelming surge of emotions.
The artwork captures a lone tree, standing resilient against the harshness of winter. Its branches, though bare and exposed to the cold winds, are adorned with vibrant red leaves - each leaf representing an unspoken story of courage and hope.
I created this piece during a time of personal turmoil. Each cut made into the paper was cathartic; it was as if with every slice, I was releasing pent-up emotions that had been buried deep within my soul for too long.
The red leaves symbolize those tumultuous feelings - intense yet beautiful in their rawness. They refuse to be silenced by the surrounding snow; instead they stand out even more prominently against its pristine whiteness.
The shadow cast on the snow beneath is not just a play of light and dark; it signifies that even in our darkest hours there is beauty to be found - if only we have eyes to see it.
This artwork is not just paper and ink – it’s a piece of my soul laid bare for all to see – vulnerable yet defiant, silent yet speaking volumes.
